Tales From The Cafe:Vol 1 - Our First Publication

Well the day is finally here, and the first of hopefully many e-books has been published. It is available through all good on-line book shops, the links for which will follow this post.  Here's a little bit about our joint venture.

CafeThree-Zero is an on-line collaborative literary venture, a publisher of e-books, and a fertile environment for creative writing.
The members of the Cafe met whilst studying an on-line creative writing course with the Open University.  None of the authors have ever met but have pooled their talents to produce their first book, “Tales from the Cafe – Volume 1″. This book, available from the 10th November 2011 contains twenty-three short stories with a wide range of subject matter from Gothic horror in the Wild West to the battlefields of World War II, from Twitter-obsessed fairytale princesses to a time travelling taxidermist.
The authors come from all walks of life, hold down day jobs, and share a strong interest in writing fiction. All the contributing author’s stories start from original ideas, forum inspired themes, and undergo peer review before seeing the “e” light of day.

You can find information about Cafe Three-Zero on the website and blog. You can also follow by Twitter and Facebook.  Don't forget to look out for my contribution to the book "To Wander A Pale Sky" and check out all the very talented author's own blogs/Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Snippets From The Notebook

It was not really meant to be poetry nor prose - perhaps more of an exercise in stream of consciousness.
Strange stuff from the notebook...

Uttered words, soulless, empty - though blackened meadows on a moonless night.
Alone but not forgotten.
Darkness calls with a message from beyond, revealing the passage of time.
Love that binds spirit.
Despair deepens, within dreams, she searches, with a realisation of beckoning freedom.
They are divided not destroyed.
There, amongst the lengthening shadows and parting hills...She takes her last breath.
They are whole....

Thanks - a brief word

Hi, as I am having problems commenting on my own page I will add them here as a post.  It's just a brief thank you for the comments made and all the recent followers.

I think creative people have a natural intuition when it comes to observation.  I too spend a lot of time painting, along side the writing and have developed an eye for colour; observing the delicate hues on an autumn leaf or the subtle colours in shadow.  I think this time of year is fantastic for colour and I intend to use it; take my camera and notebook out with me everywhere and gather as much inspiration as possible.  I'm off to Wales soon, so I am keen to get walking... get observing...whatever the weather.   A.C.Fullwood

Are you really looking?

Today, it rained.  A heavy down pour - the kind you get when it thunders.  It got me thinking about creativity and the weather - how it's used to portray mood or overall tone in a story.  I have to admit, rainy days make me more creative.  They always have.  I grew up in Wales, so as you can imagine, I had an abundance of creative days.  Rain can be an agent of beauty, bringing out the true colour in the rocks or pebbles on a beach.  Mountains in Snowdonia are often shrouded in a dense cloud that is ever changing.  Parting mists that reveal the highest of the peaks, allowing one brief glimpse of the mountains soul or of the aquamarine sky beyond.
I once heard someone declare, " If you've seen one mountain, you've seen them all."  How wrong they were.  Weather and seasons change a scene everyday, so it adds to the essence of a location.  Every place has it's own story, geology or people.  So, if you think that every mountain range is like any other, or that the view from your own window is the same every time you look out...well then, perhaps, you're not really looking.

Coming Soon...Ramble away!

Hi and welcome to Narrative Space.  It's a place where I post my recent work, thoughts and general observations about the world, stories and books that I like.  I have a tendency to sometimes to go off on surreal tangents - so this is the place for that too. My reclusive ramblings germinate at those times of the day or night when you're just falling asleep.  Your mind is working overtime, churning out endless moments of bazaar contemplation. Ideas come to you when you should be sleeping.  We have all experienced this.  It can be a burden or revelation depending on how much chocolate and caffeine you have consumed that day.

Well this happens to me a lot and yes, I consume far too much caffeine, or so it seems.  For recording the things that make sense I now keep a notebook by the bedside and in my bag.  Can't be caught short without a pad n' pen.  My husband once said that he could do with some kind of pen drive that he can plug into his head and record his ideas for music or lyrics.  What an idea!

Note to self :- must invent brain pen drive ( but I bet some brilliant scientist already has)
